Sustainable pet brand - newsletter and content strategy

Andrea founded HIJAC in November 2020, making sustainable dog leashes out of recycled plastic shampoo bottles. She wanted to launch a monthly newsletter to keep in touch with subscribers and share her passion for all things eco activism, so she went looking for a sustainability copywriter.

Right from the start, Andrea wanted to do things in her signature quirky style. Andre the chihuahua would be the voice of the newsletter and we geared up for plenty of word play and dog puns. We kicked off with a content planning session to map out the first six months of themes and ideas, with flexibility for the latest news and updates.
Andrea wanted a magazine-style format, so we brainstormed a range of regular features and segments to keep readers engaged.

We worked together for just over a year on HIJAC’s monthly newsletter, covering everything from plastics to dog poo. We brought a cheerful and unusual twist to a sometimes serious and sober topic, and earnt the brand a slew of subscribers in the process.
